Job Description

 Senior Project Professional

  Would you like to be directly responsible for delivering key projects within a new class submarine? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Project Professional at our site in Barrow.

  As a Senior Project Professional, you will deliver the build of units by working closely with subject matter experts from various functions. You will develop a strong knowledge of the Boat build and develop key working relationships with influential stakeholders across BAES Systems.

  This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of interesting projects within our Dreadnaught program. You will have prospects to advance your existing project management skills in an innovative environment. 

  Your main responsibilities as a Senior Project Professional will involve: 

  Involved with the internal S1/S2 Review Chair and support supplier reviews

Interface with MAITS (Major Area Integration Team) to ensure delivery of Units to schedule

Completing Stage gate readiness reporting

Ensuring Handover reviews are completed and Reporting on progress on the build of units

Running IPTS driving and HTA interfacing teams

Coordinating and prioritising planning requirements and working closely with Planning department

Unblocking of issues preventing continuous manufacture of outsourced units

Production of reports on weekly monthly basis

Driving the delivery of many projects within the Dreadnought programme

  Maritime – Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.

  The Astute class will equip the Royal Navy with its largest and most capable generation of attack submarines. We are responsible for the design, build, test and commissioning of these state-of-the-art vessels. In total, seven boats will make up the fleet, each weighing a mighty 7,400 tonnes.

  Dreadnought is the successor to the Vanguard class of nuclear deterrent submarines. We will deliver four submarines to the Royal Navy, with the first submarine entering service in the early 2030s. Dreadnought is widely considered to be one of the world's most complex engineering challenges.

Your skills and qualifications:

  Project Management qualification (APM preferably) and Knowledge of using methodologies to deliver projects.

SAP and Teamcenter experience highly desirable.

Must have strong MS Office skills including excel.

Domain knowledge of either the product or related field such as Engineering/Operations/Supply Chain.
