Job Description

Role: Aerospace Engineer

Summer Internship

BAE Systems Air Sector operates across the globe, in multiple markets to support customers wherever, whenever and whatever their challenges may be. We operate in multiple markets to support our customers – from design, development and production, through to provision of aircraft, training, support and maintenance. To achieve this, we collaborate with partners large and small, from within and beyond the defence sector, and from the UK and around the world.

The role of Undergraduate Aerospace Engineer covers multiple different Engineering disciplines, such as Aerodynamics, Electromagnetics, Structures, Integration, Airworthiness, Support, Mission Systems, Information Systems, Test Engineering and Flight Systems.

This placement will provide the perfect package of experience for a passionate undergraduate looking to gain valuable skills and an insight into a worldwide defence organisation.

What you will be doing

During the 12 week summer internship, the Undergraduate Aerospace Engineer will gain a thorough understanding of the various engineering disciplines within the entire Engineering Lifecycle.

More specifically, opportunities are available in the Airframe, Systems Engineering, Support Engineering, Flight Test, Airworthiness and Test Environments disciplines.

Throughout the internship the individual will communicate with and work alongside subject matter experts on a daily basis to broaden their understanding of engineering in the aerospace defence industry. This is a fantastic learning opportunity allowing the individual to “home in” on a specific engineering discipline and build a strong understanding of this subject before continuing their respective degree at University.

As a keen, aspiring engineer, the undergraduate will also have opportunities to take part in engineering extracurricular activities (or “stretch assignments”) throughout their placement at BAE Systems.
